Only package an item when delivery has been agreed. The specific carrier and instructions supplied for your transaction take priority over this general checklist.
Before you pack
- Confirm the exact item and every accessory being sent.
- Photograph working condition, the model label and visible marks.
- Back up and remove personal accounts from technology.
- Check current carrier rules for size, weight, batteries and prohibited items.
Build protection in layers
Use a rigid box rated for the weight, preferably sound original fitted packaging. Cover delicate surfaces with a clean, non-abrasive layer, protect corners and add cushioning on every side. The item should not move when the sealed box is gently shifted.
Keep accessories under control
Bag and secure plugs, stands, controllers and chargers so they cannot strike the main item. Never put adhesive tape directly on a screen or lens. Fit camera body and lens caps where available.
Seal and document
Seal the main seams with parcel tape, remove old labels, attach the new label flat, and keep photographs of the packing stages. Retain the weight, dimensions, tracking and acceptance record.
Bulky and fragile items
Large televisions, appliances and exercise equipment may need collection rather than parcel delivery. Do not improvise a lift or dismantle an item without an agreed plan. Read the full electronics packaging guide or bulky-item access checklist.
