Inventory first, bundle second
Write down the exact camera body, every lens, mount, charger, battery, cap, hood, filter and case. A vague description such as ‘camera kit’ makes comparison difficult and can hide that one lens is significantly more desirable than the rest.
Lay everything out before making a decision. It is easier to spot a missing rear lens cap or mismatched charger while the kit is still together.
When a bundle makes sense
A compatible body, everyday lens, working battery and charger can form a useful starter kit. Selling together reduces photographs, messages, packing and separate deliveries. It also helps when smaller accessories have little practical value on their own.
A bundle works best when the parts clearly belong together and the condition is reasonably consistent. Include the exact lens model rather than writing ‘standard zoom’.
When separate sales may work better
Specialist, fast, macro or long telephoto lenses may appeal to photographers who already own a compatible body. Separate sale lets optical condition, autofocus and included caps be described for each lens. The trade-off is additional administration and the possibility of being left with less desirable accessories.
Do not separate a charger or proprietary battery from a body merely to create another listing if the camera becomes difficult to test or use without it.
Check the camera body carefully
Test power, controls, screen, viewfinder, card slot, ports, autofocus and ordinary shooting functions. Record the shutter count where the model provides it, but do not use an untrusted download or dismantle the camera to obtain one number.
Inspect the sensor in a safe, ordinary way. Do not attempt a deep clean with improvised tools before a sale. Note scratches, sticky grips, damaged doors, loose mounts or error messages exactly.
Check each lens separately
- Confirm the brand, mount, full model and focal range.
- Test autofocus and stabilisation where the lens supports them.
- Turn zoom and focus rings through their normal movement.
- Inspect glass in good light for scratches, haze, fungus or separation.
- Check the filter thread, mount and switches for damage.
- List front cap, rear cap, hood, case and box only when included.
A few specks of internal dust can be different from fungus or heavy haze. Use direct language and clear photographs rather than trying to assign a dramatic grade.
Compare quotations on the same inventory

Drones are not simply flying cameras
A drone bundle can include an aircraft, gimbal camera, controller, batteries, charger, propellers and account connection. These parts need their own checks. Crash history, battery behaviour, sensor faults and controller condition can matter as much as image quality.
Use the drone quotation page for a flying camera system rather than describing it as a camera kit. Photograph the aircraft and controller labels separately and disclose repaired arms, damaged propellers or gimbal problems.
Photograph glass and condition without creating reflections
Use bright, indirect light. Show the front and rear glass, barrel, mount, switches and included caps. For the body, photograph the screen, viewfinder, sensor area without touching it, base label and grip condition.
Keep serial numbers for your private record. A buyer may need them directly, but publishing every number in a public advert is unnecessary.
Pack the kit as carefully as you assessed it
Fit body and lens caps, remove loose straps where they could scratch a screen, and protect batteries from short circuits. Keep heavy lenses from moving inside the box. The electronics packaging guide covers inner protection and delivery records.
Choose based on effort as well as price
A slightly higher combined result from five separate sales may not feel worthwhile after messages, fees and parcels. Then again, a rare lens can be hidden inside a modest bundle. The inventory gives you the evidence to make that decision without guessing.
