Your request becomes an item assessment
The form gives Zarax a first picture of the item: what it is, which model you have, its condition, your location and any supporting photographs. The clearer that picture is, the less likely the team is to need basic follow-up information.
A request is not a completed sale and does not commit either side. It is the starting point for deciding whether Zarax can consider the item and what would be involved in a practical handover.
What the team checks first
- Whether the category and model are within current buying scope
- Working order, faults, visible condition and included accessories
- Whether the description and photographs refer to the same item
- Location, size, weight and collection requirements
- Current demand, testing, handling and resale considerations
A recognisable model number is especially useful. It can distinguish two products that look almost identical while having different capacities, components or years. If the label is hard to find, use the model number guide before sending another photograph.
Why a follow-up question may be necessary
A photograph might hide the damaged corner, a product name may cover several generations, or the location might not explain that the item is upstairs. A focused question is usually intended to remove one uncertainty rather than restart the whole request.
You may be asked for a clearer label, a picture of a fault or the result of an ordinary test. Never send account passwords, one-time codes or unnecessary identity documents. If a question feels unclear, ask what detail is needed and why.
How photographs affect the review
Useful images show the whole item, model label, controls, accessories and condition. They do not need to look glossy. A slightly imperfect but sharp photograph is more useful than a filtered image that hides wear.
The quote photo checklist gives a six-shot sequence. Check every image before sending it, particularly labels and dark surfaces where focus can drift.
If Zarax cannot make an offer
Not every request will lead to an offer. Buying scope, location, condition and demand change, and declining an item is not a judgement on the owner. A machine may be too costly to collect, a fault may make safe reuse uncertain, or the model may sit outside current requirements.
You remain free to keep the item, seek another buyer, consider a competent repair or use an appropriate recycling route. The repair, recycle or sell guide sets out a practical way to choose.
If the assessment moves forward
Read the proposed item details, amount, payment route and handover arrangements carefully. Correct any misunderstanding before collection or delivery. If the offer refers to accessories that are no longer available, say so before the appointment.
Keep a written copy of the agreed terms. Do not dismantle, disconnect or package the item until responsibilities are clear. A washing machine, large television and small games console need very different preparation.
Collection details are not an afterthought
Tell the team about stairs, parking restrictions, narrow doors, a broken lift or a long route from the property to the vehicle. Photograph awkward access if it is difficult to describe. A failed collection wastes time on both sides and can sometimes be avoided with one useful picture.
For appliances, state whether the item is freestanding, integrated, connected or already disconnected. For fitness equipment, include assembled dimensions and whether it needs to be taken apart.
Payment and handover should match the written agreement
Check the payment method and timing before releasing the item. Verify funds through your own account rather than relying on a screenshot. If anything changes at the last minute, pause and confirm the revised arrangement.
The page on how Zarax works explains the broader quotation and handover journey, while the frequently asked questions cover common concerns about collection, payment and privacy.
Keep the item consistent with the request
If a final test reveals a new fault, or an accessory goes missing, update Zarax before handover. A quotation based on one description may need to be reviewed if the item changes materially. Prompt notice is far easier to handle than a surprise at the door.
